“Bereshit” is a visual meditation on the first word of the Torah—a word that not only opens the Book of Genesis but also frames the entire Jewish understanding of the beginning of existence. It serves as a point of departure for reflection on the very act of creation, the moment when nonbeing transitions into being, chaos into order, silence into the pulse of energy.

Captured using light painting, the photograph does not reproduce a physical scene or recognizable forms. Instead, it records the invisible energy of creation—the tension between nothingness and being, the first spark that gives rise to everything that will ever exist. This light is not merely a physical phenomenon; it is the manifestation of a primordial force, a cosmic impulse that establishes order and meaning.

In this sense, the photograph does not depict the world—it depicts the act of the world coming into being: a moment when time does not yet exist, and space is just beginning to take form as something perceivable. It is time outside of time, a liminal instant in which the world acquires meaning, and light becomes the origin of everything.

The image addresses a question that cannot be captured by words or conventional representation: what does the moment look like that cannot be seen, but can be felt? The viewer is drawn into the experience of this primordial force: the sensation of existence as an impulse, light as the medium of birth, being as the passage from nothingness into order.

Thus, this visual work becomes a meditation on the cosmic beginning, an attempt to reveal what is fundamental, invisible, and elusive—the very essence of creation, simultaneously mysterious, dynamic, and eternally present in every act of existence.
