This work presents an abstract interpretation of the fifth commandment of the Decalogue, understood not solely as a moral directive, but as an archetypal expression of intergenerational relationship—a foundational structure for identity and the transmission of values within both individual and communal frameworks. In the Judeo-Christian tradition, this commandment affirms not only respect for one’s parents, but also gratitude, memory, and responsibility for cultural and spiritual continuity.

Within the visual language of Conscious Abstraction, the symbolic weight of the commandment is translated into formal and chromatic relationships. Vertical structures may suggest genealogical lineage and generational transmission, while light—serving as a connective medium—embodies a shared emotional, spiritual, and biological inheritance. The image does not illustrate, but instead activates the tension between humility and autonomy, between inherited tradition and self-definition.

This contemporary reading moves beyond the bounds of the nuclear family. The reverence for “father and mother” is expanded to encompass broader conceptual categories: the Earth as Mother, history as Father, ancestors, cultural legacy, and planetary heritage. In a world where authority is frequently questioned or rejected, the work reopens the question of what is lost when roots are severed—and whether reconnection is still possible.
